Paper Journals

Check iDiscover.

The majority of paper journals were removed from the Medical Library in early 2016. They are now held in storage managed by the main Cambridge University Library.

The University Library offers a free supply service for articles in any journal marked in iDiscover as being located in a “temporary store”, eg: 

These journals unfortunately can only be viewed in the University Library (they cannot be delivered to the Medical Library). There are instructions on how to request journals be sent to the University Library here

E-Journals

University of Cambridge

Use iDiscover if you’re working on a University of Cambridge computer/wifi to search for e-journals.

If you’re “off campus”, use the the University’s eresources website to search for journals and check whether access is available using your RAVEN password.

NHS ATHENS

Log into MyJournals with your NHS ATHENS username and password (register for NHS ATHENS) before you search for the journal you need.

 

E-books

E-books are available to all Medical Library users. You have access to a wide collection of e-books covering all aspects of medicine. E-books are searchable full-text electronic versions of a print book. You can use an e-book for quick reference, read a chapter, or read the whole book. It is possible to search the text, add bookmarks, and add your own notes. With e-books you will never be faced with overdue items, fines, or heavy books to carry. It is impossible to lose or damage an e-book. The simplest way to locate and access ebooks is via iDiscover or ebooks@cambridge.

All library users have access from within the Library. Members of the University of Cambridge can also access e-books everywhere else within the University, and off campus using their Raven logins. Please be aware that although we make every effort to buy ebooks, sometimes this is not possible. The Cambridge University Library explains the common reasons preventing ebook purchase on their website.
