The Medical Library, which is an affiliate library of the Cambridge University Library, serves
- students and staff of the School of Clinical Medicine
- Part II students
- University of Cambridge postgraduates and staff
- University of Cambridge alumni with a valid reader’s card from the UL (note, it is your responsibility to ensure you have a valid reader’s card, as we will not be able to register you if the card has expired)
- Part I students can join with reference access but are not able to borrow any books
- NHS staff working in the East of England region
- M.R.C. staff working in Cambridge
- others who may be admitted on application to the Librarian. A charge may be made to those wishing to use the library for purposes of commerce or profit.
- Staff and students with a blue university card are automatically members of the Medical Library, no further registration is necessary.
- NHS staff who think they were a member of the library in the past should email the library to check: library@medschl.cam.ac.uk. We can then update your membership.
- For new NHS staff, or students on placement in a hospital, if you’re eligible to join the library you’ll need to register using an online form. Please note — if you were a University of Cambridge member in the past (e.g. as a student or staff member at the university), but are now working for the NHS, you will also need to fill in a new registration form.
- Please use your work email to register (eg @addenbrookes.nhs.uk, @nhs.net, @anglia.ac.uk), rather than a personal Gmail or Hotmail address.
Once you’ve completed the registration form you can either:
- visit the library to collect your card and complete the registration process – please come between 10am – 4pm, Monday to Friday, 1pm – 4pm Saturdays
- please email us at library@medschl.cam.ac.uk to complete the process remotely.
